BILLY THE PIG

"I paint a lot of pigs so they're always on my mind. After watching 'Pat Garret and Billy the Kid, ' I naturally called it 'Pat Garret and Billy the Pig.' in fact, it takes a conscious effort on my part to say 'Billy the Kid.' It's automatically 'Bill the Pig' now.

"This particular portrait of the desperado was inspired by the movie 'Parenthood.' What boy didn't want a cowboy hat? So I put the two inspirations together, added a toy gunbelt and came up with a slice of young Americana."
