"'One Step at a Time' shows the model sitting at the bottom of the stairs. I had the opportunity (with the sidewalk perspective) to put people in the distance, to represent either what she was thinking or what would be coming into her life. There was nothing down that sidewalk for me when I was on the first step, so I left it empty."
