"One day towards dusk, I was working in my studio when I heard a flock of Canada geese calling overhead. I rushed out to my deck and saw them pass high above me, their wings beating strong and steady. I imagined being alongside them, heading up over the Three Sisters Mountains and on over the rest of the Cascades. Long after they flew out of sight, their cry stayed with me. It's a special sound, the call of the Canada goose - it brings lingering memories of the change of season and the passing of time."
