The golden eagle, with a wingspan of over seven feet, enjoys the distinction of being one of our largest predatory birds. Normally, its food consists of small mammals such as rabbits, squirrels, and woodchucks and birds such as grouse and waterfowl.
On occasion, however, a golden eagle will attempt to steal the prey of another predator, in this case, an osprey, by attacking it in mid-air and engaging in a series of acrobatic maneuvers. Clutching the fish, this eagle has emerged victorious from such an aerial combat.
