The Summit

Jim Reynolds was considered a "painter's painter," first because his work is so beautifully rendered and second, because of the purity of his artistic vision. "The Summit" is a fine example of the way the artist used color and composition to draw the viewer into the image. The first focus, naturally, is on the subject, who might be a cowboy packing off deep into the mountains or a ranger heading out to check some game. The placement of the mountain range and clouds then invites the viewer deeper into the image.
