"Rumble and Mist" is an image from James Gurney's "The World Beneath." It shows the heroic Will Denison arriving in Waterfall City at the start of the spectacular second tale. "I chose this moment to convey an epic sense of freedom and adventure," Gurney says. The artist traveled to Niagara Falls to make oil studies and then built models of the buildings to study light and shadow. The result is a totally realized portrayal of a place that exists only in our dreams.
