"I'm always looking for classic scenes, a vignette from a time when the world was simpler. Sometimes inspiration comes from vintage clothing I come across at out-of-the-way boutiques; other times, when I'm traveling, I'll be struck by a visually interesting location. I'll come back to that spot again and again, examining it from every angle, chasing sunlight around, until it looks as perfect as I can imagine it. Then I start to paint."
