In winter, the little village of Owl's Cry is quiet. The autumn harvesting has been done, the wood has been cut and stored and there will be no gardens to tend until next spring. Neighbors gather at each other's hearths to gossip and renew old friendships.
"Winter in New England is not the bleak time it seems," said Charlotte Sternberg of this image. "Actually, there is more time to spend with one's family, friends and neighbors. The warmth inside these homes more than makes up for the chill in the air."
