Anyone who makes a game viewing safari to Africa invariably has leopard at the top of their list. Not only is it a magnificient predator but also extremely difficult to see by virtue of its nocturnal habits and the fact that it lives in dense thickets or forest. This female with her cubs was in the Aberdare Mountains of Central Kenya.
The mother was nervous and frequently called her cubs to thicker cover but they were so engrossed in their typically kitten-like games, that they paid her scant attention. It was hard to believe that these fluffy, appealing youngsters, looking somewhat bedraggled from the early morning dew, would one day grow into beautiful, ruthless hunters.
