Details

These days, a black-maned lion is a rarity, having been a coveted hunters' trophy for many years. The destruction of these great cats has accelerated as their numbers have dwindled - everyone anxious to get his before they disappear totally. The most likely place to seem them is on the Serengeti Plains in northern Tanzania or in Kenya's Mara River county. This one roared all night and the next moring regally placed himself on a hillock, squinting upwind into the early morning sun. He looked superb and knew it!
