Details
The bobcat is the most widely distributed of North America's wild cats. Its habitat ranges from swamp to desert to mountain and even into the edge of suburbia. Living mainly on rabbits, mice and squirrels, the bobcat will also dine on birds, insects, snakes and lizards.
A shy, nocturnal animal, the bobcat is rarely seen by humans. Even though the U.S. bobcat population is estimated at between 700,000 and 1.5 million, most Americans will live their whole lives without a glimpse of this feisty little feline.
