Details
Anyone who has spent time in the deep woods knows the feeling of solitude. In most cases, however, we are not alone and probably unaware of our viewer.
The Great Horned Owl is a resident of most of the North and South America and certainly familiar to us all, yet we rarely actually see one. This is primarily because of their nocturnal habits but also of their adaptation as silent hunters. The flight feathers of owls have softer edges than those of other birds, allowing for very quiet flight. Excellent night vision and hearing surely give these birds an almost ghost-like mystique.
