AUTUMN REPOSE

Moments of tenderness such as depicted in this image are rare among elk. Normally, the bulls band together in bachelor groups or remain alone. During the fall of the year, when the rut begins, the bulls search out the cow herds to perpetuate the species. This painting reveals nature at its gentlest in the serenity of an autumn meadow.
