THE FISHING HUT

In southern China there are many tiny bamboo fishing huts like this one, standing beside a lake or river plentiful with fish. Within the walls of this particular hut are bait and cleaning tools, but we sense that no fisherman is inside to use them. The atmosphere is both mysterious and peaceful; we imagine that if we drew closer, we would hear the sounds of lapping waves and birds calling distantly overhead. Unlike houses that separate us from nature, the fishing hut seems to bring us closer.
