"Streets are narrow in Waterfall City," Gurney says, "and they're steep enough to require stairs: big ones for the dinosaurs and little ones for the people." Gurney was inspired by his fond memories of Venice, where the streets are quaint and crooked and San Francisco, where they seem impossibly steep. "Then I gave them a Dinotopian spin," Gurney explains. "What if you introduced some really heavy traffic?"
