Details

"Years ago, while visiting my folks in Detroit, we stopped by a wooded area where an apple cider mill was in operation. The delightful aroma of apples filled the air. Everything dealing with apples was for sale - pies, sauce, cider, apple butter, etc. Huge black pots over fires, containing peeled apples plus a few other ingredients, required constant stirring with wooden paddles. This sight of the apple butter making activity made for some swell picture taking material. Little did I know that this folksy scene, which made a special impression on me, was to be formulated into a painting some time in the future."
