SHORE BIRDS

You can walk the same stretch of deserted beach a dozen times and each time find it different. The sand sparkled in the sun, the grasses were dancing and even the engulfed sand fence had a jaunty look. Quite suddenly, the weather began making up for a storm. Clouds rolled by and the gulls who had been drifting lazily were swept up in dizzying circles like scraps of paper going up in smoke. What began as a painting of sand dunes became a tribute to the majesty and power of that dark, sea-like sky.
