Paul Newman as Butch Cassidy

Details

Butch Cassidy embodied the spirit of the Western frontier: determined, resourceful, spirited and, even when conditions bordered on desperate, eternally optimistic. This is the persona that Paul Newman brought to life with his indelible performance as the infamous outlaw in the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." The movie also revived the romance of the hideout - that secret haven of safety and security that gave Butch and his companions their memorable name: The Hole in the Wall Gang. Today, the original Hole in the Wall Gang hideout stands in Cody, Wyoming, an out-of-doors museum that preserves a frontier settlement just as it was 100 years ago. Butch Cassidy inspired more than a great movie and a fine are painting. His spirit and that of the Old West were among the motivations for Paul Newman's establishment of The Hole in Wall Gang Camp as a year round center dedicated to serving children with cancer and other serious blood diseases.
