A northern Cheyenne warrior returns from an unsuccessful raid on a neighboring tribe. A dust storm has dispersed the fighting parties. The Northern Cheyenne tribe was adjacent to the Crow, Mandan, Teton, Sioux, Arikara, Pawnee and Arapaho. Each sent raiding parties out constantly to either bring back ponies (a sign of wealth) or to steal from their neighbors.
