Details

It has been said that landing a jet on the deck of a moving aircraft carrier is like “threading the eye of a needle." Even on a super carrier like this Nimitz class, the USS "George Washington," it requires timing, judgment, concentration, coordination, a responsive hand on the stick and utmost respect for the craft, the ship and all crew members involved. As a U. S. Navy combat artist, Bill was deployed to the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf and conducted first hand research on the subject.
